Prof. V. Banakar, Bankar Consulting Services, Westfield USA was the speaker. He spoke on various aspects of the IPR including Understanding domain of IPR; Patentability; Terms & Terminology; Differentiating invention and claim, Taking invention to market; Protecting IPR; and Solutions to current scenario. More than 60 scientists, research scholars and students from FRI (Deemed to be University) participated in the event. | |

In commemoration of the 75th year of India’s Independence (Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav), a virtual seminar on ‘Bioassay guided probing of plants for therapeutic application’ was organized on 22nd July 2022 by Chemistry & Bioprospecting Division, Forest Research Institute (FRI), Dehradun. More than 100 participants including scientists, faculty, technical staff, and research scholars of the FRI and other organizations joined the programme. Four guest speakers from CSIR-IIIM, Jammu, Central Research Laboratory, Maratha Mandal Group of Institutions, Belgaum and DIT University, Dehradun deliberated upon methods and techniques employed in bioassay guided isolation, characterization, and synthesis of bioactive molecules, SWOT analysis of herbal drug development in the global context and systematic plan of pharmacological screening of plants for drug discovery. | |

Under Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav, a webinar on the topic " LCQTOFMS - Data Processing and Interpretation " was organized on 15/02/2023 at 11.00 hrs by the Chemistry & Bio-prospecting Division of the Forest Research Institute (FRI), Dehradun. The objective of the webinar was to enhance the analytical capabilities of scientists, technical staff and research scholars in use of LCQTOFMS technique. Speaker was Prof. Brijesh Kumar, Chief Scientist (Retired), SAIF, CSIR-CDRI, Lucknow. Through PowerPoint presentation, he spoke on the LCQTOFMS analytical technique and explained the methodology of processing and interpretation of data duly exemplified with various case studies. A number of scientists, technical staff and research scholars of the FRI and other ICFRE institutes attended the lecture. | |

A monthly seminar titled ‘Application of Nanotechnology in Wood-Based Products Industry’ was conducted by Forest Products Division on 15 March, 2023 at FRIDU Boardroom. The seminar was attended by all scientists, technical officers, ACTOs, CTOs of Forest Products Division and all students of M.Sc. (Wood Science and Technology), FRIDU, Dehradun, many technocrats from wood based industries. Two speakers were invited to give talks on recent developments and research gaps on application of nano-technology in wood sector. Seminar kick-started with a welcome address by Dr. Shailendra Kumar, Scientist-D. The lead talk was delivered by Dr. Harish Barshilia, CSIR-National Aerospace Laboratories, B’luru on “Future Prospects of Nano-technology for Wood Based Products”. The second talk was delivered by Prof. Gaurav Manik, Department of Polymer and Process Engineering, Indian Institute of Technology, Roorkee on “Carbon nano-materials: opportunities and challenges in product development”. Discussion on research gaps, question answers were followed after the presentations. | |
