Special Lecture by Shanti Swarup Bhatnagar Awardee Prof. Rajneesh Kumar, IIT Madras and Professor Molokitina Nadezhda, Director of Permafrost Programme, Siberia

Two special lectures were organized by the Forest Research Institute Deemed to be University on 21/09/2023. Professor Rajneesh Kumar, IIT Madras, recipient of the Shanti Swarup Bhatnagar Award and Professor Molokitina Nadezhda, Director of Permafrost Programme, School of Advanced Engineering, Earth Cryosphere Institute on innovations in the field of technology, environment, and science shared their knowledge and expertise with the students, faculty members and other attendees.

In this lecture, Professor Rajneesh Kumar presented his comprehensive knowledge and perspectives about carbon dioxide (CO2) capture technologies and Professor Molokitina Nadezhda from Siberia, spoke about Gas hydrates. They also discussed CO2 capture technologies which is based on capturing CO2 produced by burning coal in power stations, compress it, pipe it away from the plant and then store it deep underground as well as about the use of gas hydrates in achieving sustainability in the field of climate change and energy production. This lecture was a unique opportunity for the students and faculty members of FRI Deemed to be University for their future endeavors in the fields of science and research.
